Read about our sound... Roger Lane - Biography

Lead vocals, backing guitarist
John - Biography

Lead guitarist, backing vocals
Roger began his career in the early sixties singing with local bands in the Surrey area. Released a couple of singles with the bands, and one as a solo artist, using the unenviable name of Roger De’Coverley, moved on
quickly and  did a stint as a session vocalist for Pye Records.
On moving to Cornwall in 1998, he met several local musicians at "Open Mic Nights" and in 1999 joined "The Unlikely". In 2004 he joined "Solution" where he met John. They both found that they had common musical likes and dislikes and John began to teach Roger to play guitar.

In 2007 Barfly was formed to play when the other members of Solution were unavailable. Culminating in where they are today .
During his career as a session guitarist John had the privilege of working with many artists at companies such as RCA, Virgin, Polydor, Motown and MCA. He has also performed on TV, on Top of the Pops, Wogan and Pebblemill, radio and in theatre.
Since relocating he has enjoyed being part of Cornwall’s rich music scene, with Solution and Barfly.
Our Sound
We use a BOSE portable, all-in-one sound system which delivers a unique, clear, powerful sound across any size stage and throughout small to large sized venues.

BOSE’S novel approach to amplification helps eliminate excessive reverberation and extreme volume on and near the stage.

“We get nothing but great comments about our live sound from listeners everywhere we play, the fans love the great sound, and the club owners are always impressed with the volume being loud enough without the overpowering bass of traditional systems. It makes it easier for patrons to dance and talk.”

“We can be loud enough for a large venue or play a smaller pub without people running for the door because of excessive volume.”

Most gigs are in bars, pubs, social clubs, private parties and charity events. But we can perform at resorts, corporate events, casinos, weddings, festivals, hotels, restaurants, castles, private residences and marquees, for audiences of 50-500.
